Dedicated to music in all of its forms, styles, and genre, OPJ records originated in 1943 in Chicago, IL. Although dormant for many years it represented the true legacy and aspirations of its originator, Odie Payne Jr. he evolved to be the most sought-after studio drummer from Chess Records, and he performed on many other record labels including RCA and VJ.....And he played, toured, and recorded with more Blues legends than any drummer of his time He was a stickler for timing, phrasing, and shading of dynamics in music...thus, he was crowned by his peers and fans as the "Official Legendary Keeper." Over his 40-year career, he was a music teacher with expertise in brass, drums, guitar, piano, and vocals .He was one of the best transcriptionist of his time and is the author of over 100 original compositions. Many of his accomplishments can be read in his official biography written by Odie Payne III and his collaborators.

I am now the captain of this ship known as OPJ Records LLC with the daunting task of carrying on a great legacy and mission of producing progressive, timeless music in all phases and genres. The label stands not only for the production of great music, but for the involvement and commitment to community and philanthropy.
